About Me

Dundee, United Kingdom
I am a recent graduate of Duncan of Jordanstone college of Art in Dundee, working mainly in oil paint; i am primarily concerned with the nude female figure and am currently exploring the idea of women's sexuality, and the relationship between woman and animal. I aim to portray a sense of power and sensuality through the use of pose, wildlife and symbolism, these themes have offered me the opportunity for a rich amplification of fantasy and imagery that i feel would not be possible working with the female figure alone. I am especially attracted to the theatrical and use vivid colours such as bold reds, and highly patterned surfaces to suggest strong sexuality and the exotic and feel that the use of intricate pattern helps to retain a sense of femininity and decadence. I hope to create a surrealistic atmosphere with elements of psycho sexual tension.

Ok, so... Im just getting started with the whole website and blogging thing, so please bear with me, I have a few more bits and bobs to add to the site, however hopefully i will have everything up and running very soon and will try to update it regularly.

I am currently working on a series of four small(ish) paintings for the 'New Faces' exhibition in Edinburgh's Leith Gallery, which will open on the 5th of February next year.

I am also working voluntarily with the Arts therapy Group, 'Art Angel' based in Dundee.

"Art Angel is an arts advocacy project run for and by people with experience of mental health difficulties, offering a wide spectrum of arts based activities as a means of positive self expression, creative exploration, and self developement through creativity, communication and support. The project encourages and energises participants, building confidence, self esteem and a sense of purpose in an equal and inclusive environment. This in turn empowers participants to voice their views, ideas and opinions, not only within the project but also as a valid memberof the community.
