About Me

Dundee, United Kingdom
I am a recent graduate of Duncan of Jordanstone college of Art in Dundee, working mainly in oil paint; i am primarily concerned with the nude female figure and am currently exploring the idea of women's sexuality, and the relationship between woman and animal. I aim to portray a sense of power and sensuality through the use of pose, wildlife and symbolism, these themes have offered me the opportunity for a rich amplification of fantasy and imagery that i feel would not be possible working with the female figure alone. I am especially attracted to the theatrical and use vivid colours such as bold reds, and highly patterned surfaces to suggest strong sexuality and the exotic and feel that the use of intricate pattern helps to retain a sense of femininity and decadence. I hope to create a surrealistic atmosphere with elements of psycho sexual tension.

Iam just home from spain, having had a lovely lazy two weeks and am now slowly but surely getting on with the paintings for the upcoming show in Edinburgh, though with christmas very nearly here i am feeling a little distracted and my mind is wandering to more festive thoughts! ...however things are coming along nicely, i am currently working on the third of four paintings for the exhibition. This one is a semi nude portrait of a good friend, Daisy.

On another note i am also looking for more experience working within art therapy organisations, and have been in contact with a few groups however to no avail, if anybody has any suggestions and or contacts? i would greatly appreciate it as i am hoping to apply for a masters at Queen Margarets in Edinburgh and although i do have the qualifications needed as far as my degree goes i do feel i would like some more hands on experience with different organisations/ workshops.
